Messages from Manor

Dear Parents and Carers

We say this every Newsletter, but at the risk of sounding like a broken record, we have had another busy couple of weeks!

Visits to Think Tank on the train for Owls, Lower Drayton Farm on the minibuses for EYFS (see News items below), visits by a literacy advisor and an EYFS advisor, a Trust Student Council meeting at Manor, Science Week activities (see news item below), and on top of all that, assessment week for the end of term. It's lucky there isn't much planned for next week... oh, hang on (see posters etc below!)!

Each of these things went well and, along with the beautiful weather, it has been a great two weeks. The literacy and EYFS advisors went away happy and impressed with what we are doing in these areas led by Mrs Armstrong. They were very supportive and offered some good ideas for our next steps.

The Trust Student Council was composed of children from each of our ten partner Fierté schools across Tamworth and Burton. We had a full turn out from each school (Bayleigh and Zachary represented Manor) and the children were delightful. They received 'Student Leader' badges and lanyards and discussed ideas for ways to bring children together across the Trust. They came up with three main actions:

1. Continue with the 'pen pals' letters and cards sent between schools,

2. organise a poster campaign for saving energy in support of the Trust's aims to reduce our carbon footprint.

3. to organise Teams meet-ups between classes to see and say hello to the children they have been writing to and to compete in things like spelling bees or times tables competitions against each other.

We will see how well we can manage to get these things off the ground but collaboration and a sense of belonging to the family of Fierté is slowly growing among the children, as it already has with staff who work closely with colleagues across Fierté.

Annual Parent Survey!

https://edurio.com/poll/AFpkye

Please take 15 minutes of your time to click the link above and complete our annual parent survey. Your feedback is very important to us. It is often shared with staff and acted on where possible, influencing the decisions we make in your child's education and the strategic direction of the school. Staff love to hear your positive comments and are interested in ways we might improve Manor Primary.

The survey closes at the end of term next week on Friday 27th March. Don't delay!

Thank you for your time and support.

Easter Eggstraveganzer!

We hope you can come and join us for an eggciting morning of cracking good fun on the last day of term (Fryday) before we break up for Easter (no more yolks, I promise!). Many of you will be busy this weekend creating your Easter hats and bonnets for EYFS and Swans, or your 'nature/spring' themed egg dioramas for KS2.

On Friday morning, children will take hats into class with them at the start of the day for registration, then each year group will parade their creations in front of parents on the playground with a small prize for the best hat. We should be finished by about 9:30am.

KS2 children will take their dioramas (a scene involving eggs that might roughly fit inside a shoe box ) and put them on tables in the hall. Parents are welcome to view them while they are waiting. There will also be refreshments on sale thanks to the PTA (see posters below).

In wet weather we will move the parades into the hall.

It is hard to eggagerate the eggcitment of the appoaching scramble for chocolate eggs! (Sorry... so sorry!)

Message from the School Office

Please could we politely remind parents and carers to keep an eye on Arbor and make sure any payments for visits, dinners, clubs, snacks etc are paid promptly and are not allowed to go into arrears. Mrs Everett and Mrs O'Brien don't enjoy having to chase for payments and would rather be doing more productive things with their time. Thank you for your support with this.

Road Safety

A member of staff reported a near miss outside school last week where a child got out of a car on the roadside outside school and was narrowly missed by a passing car. Thankfully there was no harm done on this occasion but it has prompted us to do another road safety themed assembly with the children. If parents and carers would maybe take the time to have a road safety conversation with their children to back up the message from school that would help to re-enforce the importance of this and drive the message home. Working together we can help to keep our children safe. Thank you for your support.
