Messages from Manor

Dear Parents and Carers

And so a short but busy half-term comes to an end. Only 4 weeks, including a bank holiday and an inset day, but we have had Y6 SATS, visits to Wroxeter and Buzzard's Valley, sporting events, a disco, parent meetings, an Ofsted report, transition visits to Year 6 by QEMS and Rawlett staff and much more. We have also squeezed in lots of learning each day whilst making the most of the good weather.

Of course, it doesn't slow down in the next half of the summer term! It may be longer at 7 weeks, but we have a huge amount to fit in. The key dates for parents are listed at the end of this newsletter, but there are many more things happening in school. If you want to see a fuller list, then go to the calendar on our website.

The calendar now also includes all of the holiday and INSET Day dates for 2025/26 if anyone is planning childcare or holidays for next academic year.

We hope you all get a good break over half-term and come back refreshed and ready for a fun-packed final half-term of the year.

Kaleidoscope of Dreams

Tamworth Schools' Arts Festival

There are big plans afoot for this summer when the majority of Tamworth Primary and some secondary schools will come together in the Castle Grounds to enjoy an arts festival of art, song and dance. Saturday 5th July is the date to put in your diaries. There will be a stage set up for schools to perform dances and musical acts through the day culminating in a 'flash mob' massed choir where children will all sing four songs that they will have been learning at school, at about 4:30pm.

There will be bunting and banners designed by schools and lots of art work on display. The council are funding entertainers, there will be the fire brigade and other emergency services, a hot air balloon, food outlets, African Drummers etc. The BBC are booked to cover the event on TV and radio. All are encouraged to come down and maybe bring a picnic to enjoy the festival atmosphere.

We will provide more detail in the build up to the event. We will also be doing some art, music and dance in school linked to the festival in the week leading up to the event and in the week after.

Ofsted says we are "Good" in all areas!

You will hopefully have received an email with the Manor Ofsted report attached at the start of this week. The report is now published on the Ofsted Reports website if you wish to look again at all those 'Good' judgements!

That opening paragraph shows the inspectors got to know our school and its key strengths very well:

"Manor Primary Academy is a place pupils want to be. Pupils say the school is ‘one big family’. They feel happy and safe and enjoy their learning. Staff have high expectations and strong relationships with all pupils. There is a real sense of community. Staff know the pupils and their families well".

There are very positive comments about lots of areas that we do particularly well at Manor. These include strengths in our Special Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision, our Early Years provision and in our pupil behaviour. These three areas were 'good' but they were the three aspects that they said we could still make further improvements in. We have been working on those improvement plans since the inspector gave us feedback in March and Fierté vice CEO Tony Hand, was in school this week to support us in making those plans rigorous and purposeful. The great strength of being part of Fierté is the access we have to excellent practice in a wide range of schools and Tony has been able to direct us to where the best examples are. This was also something that Ofsted recognised in their report.

Staff have quite rightly enjoyed the affirmation that a 'Good in all areas' report judgement has given them, but the work to continually improve continues!

PTA Gardening

Many of you will have seen the ongoing work in developing the garden area by the car park in school. After the huge effort in clearing the site over Easter, there has been some planting and watering to help brighten it up. The next phase will be levelling it and building a path before seating and arches are installed and raised beds are finally positioned. We have had a kind offer of help in building the path and there are whispers of some exciting news about possible funding of the project that we will confirm at a later date.

Thank you to all those who have contributed to these efforts.
