Dear Parents and Carers
This week turned out a bit different to what we had expected in school with a phone call on Monday morning to notify us of an Ofsted inspection starting at 8am on Tuesday and Wednesday. We had two inspectors visiting on the first day and the lead inspector returned on her own on the second day.
The process involved the collection of documents, checking of online systems, observations, interviews and surveys. All stakeholders were spoken to including office, lunchtime, care club and classroom staff, parents, Trust leaders, governors, curriculum subject leaders, SENCO, volunteers, headteacher and of course the children who were interviewed in groups about their learning, at playtimes and lunchtimes about their safety and care, and at any opportunity in between.
The school will be judged in 5 areas:
- Quality of Education
- Personal Development
- Behaviour and Attitudes
- Early Years
- Leadership and Management
The inspector has given initial feedback to school leaders, but the report will take time to be written, checked by the school for factual accuracy, moderated and finalised before being published, at which point we will make sure all parents get a copy of the report. Until then, the findings and judgements are confidential.
What we can share at this point are the inspectors' opinions of the children. They thought Manor children were amazing! They were so polite and respectful, displaying their MANOR Values such as Manners. They were confident and funny, articulate and nurturing, open-minded and friendly. If there was an Ofsted judgement for children, I'm sure they would be the highest grade!
The staff were also amazing. The teachers were in from 7am to 7:30pm each day and gave up their PPA time, staff came in to help who weren't scheduled to be in, they worked to cover those who were out being interviewed etc.
Whatever the final judgements might be, we are proud of all of our Manor community and how they pulled together to show their love of this little school with a huge heart.
