Messages from Manor

Dear Parents and Carers

There is never a dull moment in the life of a school! The past two weeks have been 'normal' but normal is always busy at Manor. For the children it has been mostly their routine lessons with the odd exception such as Owls visit to the Mandir (Hindu Temple) in Derby. Behind the scenes, staff have been working extra hard to maintain our high standard of learning, while others have attended training in the last two weeks for maths leadership, paediatric first aid, phonics teaching and behaviour management. Teachers have also attended meetings for assessment strategies across the Trust, catering, Tamworth Sports Council, governors and more. Alongside this, staff put on a really positive writing workshop with many parents commenting on the high expectations we have for our children's writing at Manor and the quality they were producing. Thank you to all who were able to attend.

Manor is a fabulous place to work with a brilliant community of supportive parents and wonderful children but it is not easy for our small team of staff who have to cover all the areas of leadership that a larger school does with a fraction of the people to share this work between. We are lucky that we have such dedicated and positive staff who work so well together.

While many schools locally and nationally are struggling to fill some positions such as teachers and TA's with nobody applying, we have had 12 good quality applicants for our Early Years TA post to replace Mrs Perry. Our small school and village location are attractive but our reputation as a friendly and inclusive school must play a part in this too. There is also the good reputation of Fierté as employers in the Tamworth area that helps to attract interest. The biggest incentive of all to work at Manor are our beautiful children that people meet when they come to look round. We hope to be able to announce our new EYFS TA in the next Newsletter!

Best Kept Village

You may have seen the posters displayed at the park that the Parish Council chose from those created in school. Well done to all for your efforts and especially to those who were put forward to represent the village.
