Dear Parents and Carers
It seemed appropriate that we were driving through flooded, rain soaked roads on our way to the Tamworth Primary Schools Swimming Gala Heats this week. Our swimmers stayed relatively dry until they got into the pool at Belgrave where they all swam brilliantly. Before the start we agreed that they would do their best and would get out of the pool with a smile whether they were first or last. We wait to see whose times were fast enough to get through to the finals at the Snowdome but all 15 children were brilliantly behaved and supportive of each other. They were all winners in our eyes! They also got to high 5 Oliver and Harry Wright who were helping to time the races. Oliver and Harry are ex-Manor pupils who are elite county/national standard swimmers who won lots of swimming gala trophies in their time at Manor.
The rain also washed away the chance for EYFS to do forest school with Miss Clarkson this week. Hopefully it will stop in time for next Tuesday when Miss Clarkson can use her Forest School qulaification to support them in our Forest School area. Also, Year 1 and Year 5 will be starting a block of forest school next week with our other Forest School qualified staff member, Mrs Viollet.
Could we also remind everyone that we are 'nut free school'. This has an added importance because Miss Clarkson has a nut allergy so any contact with nuts (especially peanuts) could be potentially life-threatening. Please keep a raised awareness when sending anything into school such as food and food packaging such as cereal boxes for junk modelling for instance. Thank you for your support in this.
You will see from the 'News and Events' section below that we had a successful music concert at the end of last half term. This has obviously inspired the children with about half a dozen new customers for the instrumental tuition we offer with specialist music teachers. We currently have guitar, saxophone, clarinet and flute being taught. If you're child is interested, please just pop into the office to speak to Mrs Everett or Mrs O'Brien. If the cost is something that is putting you off, there are some generous grants available for anyone that applies. You don't need to have been on benefits etc. The music teachers tell us there is a poor take up so there are unspent funds available if you apply. If successful you may get part or all of the tuition paid for. Lack of finance should never be something that prevents a child exploring their potential.
