Robins and Ducklings have had a very exciting time learning all about pirates. We have learnt about real pirates, such as Black Bart, one of the most successful pirates ever, and Blackbeard, whose favourite drink was rum and gunpowder! There have been lots of fun and exciting opportunities for learning. For example, we have been creating pirate boat pictures using magnetic shapes, drawing and labelling our own pirate maps, using recycled materials to make our own pirate ship, and making lots of accessories to help us become fully immersed in our dress as a pirate day! We even carried the theme on during our forest visit on Wednesday afternoon, during which we made our own pirate boats using found materials in the forest area. We have also been on two treasure hunts, looking for clues around the classroom and garden area until we found the last clue, which tells the Robins and Ducklings what their reward was. We're real-life pirates as excited as Robins and Ducklings were when they were rewarded with a sticker when they found real gold treasure – who knows?
