Caring for Our Environment: Learning to Protect Our Beaches and Oceans

Our class has recently been learning about important environmental issues, with a particular focus on pollution; especially rubbish pollution in our oceans.
Through engaging stories and class discussions, the children explored how litter can harm wildlife and damage our beautiful beaches.
The children showed great interest and enthusiasm as they learned about the impact of rubbish on marine animals. They discovered how plastic and other waste can be dangerous for creatures living in the sea, such as turtles, fish, and seabirds. This helped them understand why it is so important for everyone to take responsibility for keeping our environment clean.
As part of their learning, the children created colourful and informative posters to share ways we can all help protect our beaches. Their ideas included simple but powerful actions, such as:
- Taking our rubbish home with us if there are no bins nearby
- Always putting rubbish in the bin
- Recycling whenever possible
- Being aware of animals that may be in danger because of litter
This activity has shown a fantastic understanding of the world around them. The children demonstrated not only their knowledge of environmental issues but also their care and responsibility towards others and the natural world. They worked creatively and supported each other, producing thoughtful posters that share an important message for our whole community.
We are very proud of their efforts and hope they continue to use these lessons to help keep our beaches clean and protect our amazing animals.
