Robins and Swans Send Letters to Santa!

This week has been full of festive excitement as our Robins and Swans classes took part in a very special Christmas tradition - writing letters to Santa Claus!
The children have been busy thinking carefully about what they would like to ask for, and the activity provided a wonderful opportunity for learning and creativity.
Robins Class focused on understanding the difference between a need and a want. Through thoughtful discussions, they explored what items are essential and what things are simply nice to have. Using this knowledge, each child wrote a letter asking Santa for four things:
-
Something they need
-
Something to wear
-
Something to read
-
Something they want
This approach encouraged the children to think practically while still enjoying the magic of Christmas. It was lovely to see their ideas ranging from warm winter clothes to exciting new books that will help them learn and grow.
Meanwhile, Swans Class showed their independence by writing their letters without any templates or prompts. They were free to ask Santa for their favourite toy, book, or game; whatever they felt would make their Christmas extra special. The creativity and individuality in their letters were truly heartwarming, and it was clear that each child put a lot of thought into their choices.
To make the experience even more magical, today both classes walked across the road together to post their letters to Santa himself! There was a real sense of excitement as the children carefully placed their envelopes in the postbox, imagining them making their way to the North Pole. The smiles on their faces said it all; this was a moment they will remember.
Now, all that’s left to do is wait and hope for a reply from the man in red. Fingers crossed that Santa has time to write back before his busiest night of the year!
This activity wasn’t just about Christmas wishes, it was also a fantastic way to develop writing skills, practice clear communication, and encourage thoughtful decision-making. We are so proud of how engaged and enthusiastic the children were throughout the process.
As the festive season approaches, we look forward to more joyful moments like this. Thank you to everyone who helped make this special tradition possible. Here’s to a magical Christmas for all our Robins and Swans!
