Paws, Play & Patients: Our Outdoor Vet Surgery Is Open!

Our Reception and Nursery children have been busy bringing imagination to life in our brand-new outdoor role-play area, where caring hands and curious minds have transformed into a bustling veterinary surgery!
There’s been a buzz of excitement in Robins class this week and it’s not just the sound of barking soft toys or meowing plush cats. Our brand-new outdoor role-play area has officially opened, and the children have wasted no time diving into their new roles as vets, nurses, patients, and even concerned pet owners. Move over Dr Dolittle - our little learners are taking over!
From the moment the 'surgery' opened, the children transformed into empathetic animal carers, carefully tending to poorly puppies, bandaging bunny ears, and checking temperatures with toy thermometers (some readings were suspiciously high, but we suspect cuddles were the cure). The outdoor vet surgery has become a hub of imaginative play, rich language development, and collaborative learning.
A huge thank you goes to Mrs Turner and Mrs Hemus for their creativity in creating the area and to the parents and school community for generous donations of resources. From toy animals to medical kits, their contributions have made this space truly magical and we suspect they may have inspired a few future veterinarians along the way!
Whether it’s diagnosing a dinosaur with a sore tail or comforting a kitten with a case of the sniffles, the children have shown incredible creativity, empathy, and teamwork. And with so many patients still waiting in the waiting room, we’re sure the fun will continue for many weeks to come.
So next time you hear a child say, “The vet will see you now,” don’t be surprised if it’s followed by a giggle, a cuddle, and a very thorough check-up involving a toy syringe and a glittery plaster (now limited to one plaster; per patient; per day - who knew plasters would be so popular?)
A huge thank you goes to Mrs Turner and Mrs Hemmings for their generous donations of resources. From toy animals to medical kits, their contributions have made this space truly magical—and we suspect they may have inspired a few future veterinarians along the way!
