What a wonderful start to our week when Daniel Thompson, a local poet and author, visited our school to deliver some engaging and fun poetry lessons.
Penguins class have been using their science knowledge to create circuits for a 'steady-hand' game.
Yesterday, Owls Class came together to tell the Christian story of Easter. Their performing and singing was absolutely amazing and they all enjoyed themselves thoroughly! Well done to everyone involved and a special thanks to Mrs Pearce and her daughter for their help and expertise over the past few weeks!
Thank you to everyone who joined us today for our Mother's Day Afternoon Tea.
Well done to everyone who entered our Book Day competition and have a look at the wonderful entries....
What a great sight it was this morning to see so many storybook characters coming to school.
Science and maths in Swans
Robins and Ducklings had a super time learning about lots of the traditions surrounding the Chinese New Year. They learnt about the story of the Great Race, and the legend of Nian, and how these influenced some of the traditions that happen at this important time of year. The children enjoyed tasting some traditional Chinese food, including prawn crackers and noodles. Not everyone liked all of the food on offer (although plenty did!), but most children were happy to try new things, even if they decided after that they didn't like them. One of the standout moments was our dragon dancing, which the children really enjoyed, taking turns to be the dragon and then playing some musical instruments to accompany the next dragon - lots of fun!
Year 5 and 6 have been learning how to use and create timelines to understand about historical chronology.
A fantastic showcase of music at Manor today! Children from Penguins Class showed off all they have learned over the past term and a half on their doods. We were also treated to some fantastic pieces by other musicians in school including those who play guitar, the flute and even the saxophone! Well done to all involved.
Five weeks of work learning about the Ancient Egyptians and their art has culminated in Owls Class creating their very own 'ancient' scrolls. Children created their art pieces on their very own 'papyrus' paper made from recycled parcel paper strips. Their art uses a mixture of Ancient Egyptian symbols and symbols of hobbies or interests the children may have. See below for pictures of the children with their scrolls!
