Robins and Ducklings have been trying out their new balance bikes.
Swans have been busy over the last few weeks creating their 'Paper Play' art project based on the ‘Maman’ spider sculpture (1999) by the artist Louise Bourgeois. Mr Robson started the project
and worked with the children to create the structure. The children then worked in small groups to paint and decorate their class sculpture which is now sitting proudly in our classroom.

Today is Safer Internet Day 2025.
Children at Manor received an extended assembly on a range of key areas based on e-safety. Owls Class also took part in a nationwide BBC lesson where they took part in 3 activities to help be aware of, and spot, potential online scams as well as how to create a strong password. Below is a little more information, helpful links for parents and a handful of pictures.
2025 is the year of the Snake!
It's that time of year when hedgehogs like to hibernate.
Over the last two weeks, Swans have been exploring using paper to create different 3D sculptures. They have had to fold, bend, roll and cut the paper to create different shapes to stick to their base. These art pieces have slowly been taken home this week and there will be more to come next week as we get further into the topic.
Owls Class used a range of coding 'blocks' today, mainly focussed on loops and repeaters. Watch out GCHQ a new generation of coders and hackers are on the way!
Owls Class were introduced today to shading within their art topic. They were shown how best to grip and use a pencil for shading and were very good at replicating the "shading grip" of a pencil. Children worked on creating darker and lighter tones and touched upon 3d objects and where the shadows might lie depending on incoming light. The class were focussing on 4 main rules throughout the lesson on good shading: 1. Try to use only one direction at a time. 2. Try not to leave any gaps 3. Keep those edges neat 4. aim for smooth, even tones (using a tissue or finger to smudge slightly if needed. Children will be using the skill of shading throughout the next 4 weeks to complete some botanical based drawings.
