Thinktank - what a day!

Owls had an amazing day at the Thinktank in Birmingham.

Well - what an exciting day that turned out to be! Owls were already (rightly) getting excited about going to the Thinktank... and this carried on throughout the day. It started off with us all meeting at Tamworth train station, ready to get the train at 9:06 to Birmingham New Street station. For some children, this was the first time they had ever been on a train. And for all of the children, it would be the first time they had all been on the train with all of their friends from Owls. Once at New Street, we stopped to say hello to Ozzy, then we said hello to the Bull Ring bull, before making our way to Millennium Point and the Thinktank. Once there, the children really got involved in all the wonderful interactive displays and activities on offer. At half past ten, we went into one of the classroom to enjoy a workshop about forces and friction. The children's recall of their previous learning and application to the activities was very impressive indeed. We then had time to visit a different floor before lunch. Lunch arrived at just the right time - especially as many Owls were asking when we were going to eat after walking through the door of the Thinktank!!! We then explored the remainder of the exhibitions before gathering our things and enjoying fifteen minutes in the science garden at the front of Millennium Point. We then made the hike back to New Street, to enter a very busy station before boarding a very busy train! It was a wonderful day all round, and the children were great ambassadors for the school and for themselves. Well done, Owls. Of course, these sort of events cannot take place with the amazing support of volunteers - so a very big thank you to Mrs Robinson, Miss Wainwright and Mrs Schindler for their invaluable help. Also, a very big thank you to those parents who were involved in dropping off and picking up from Tamworth station. And further still... another very big thank you to those parents who chose to help out with the train travel and walking to the Thinktank. Thank you to all - you helped make this trip a really memorable and enjoyable experience for all of the children. Well done, everyone!
