Robins Class and the Great Farm Adventure!

Our Robins Class had an unforgettable day at Lower Drayton Farm, filled with sunshine, excitement, and plenty of hands‑on learning that brought our classroom topics to life.
Robins Class enjoyed a wonderful day out at Lower Drayton Farm, where the sunshine and the children’s excellent behaviour made the visit even more special. From start to finish, the children represented our school beautifully and embraced every opportunity to learn, explore, and have fun.
Our adventure began with an exciting tractor ride that took us over the motorway bridge and into the fields. Along the way, we spotted sheep with their lambs, cows with their calves, a bull, and even some llamas. The children were fascinated to learn that the llamas help protect the sheep from night‑time predators - especially Mr Fox!
After the tractor ride, the children had the chance to handle some of the smaller animals. They were delighted to gently stroke and pet rabbits and guinea pigs, and they also had the chance to observe one‑month‑old chicks up close. Their curiosity and care for the animals were lovely to see.
One of the highlights of the day was visiting the sheep barn, where several lambs had been born that very morning. The children were amazed to see the tiny newborns and to learn about how the farm staff care for them. We also visited the donkeys, emus, turkeys, and cows with their calves, giving the children a broader understanding of life on a working farm.
After lunch, the children enjoyed some well‑deserved playtime. They had great fun in the outdoor play area, racing around on the go‑karts and exploring the play equipment. To finish the day, they spent time in the soft play area, burning off the last of their energy with big smiles on their faces.
It truly was a fantastic day filled with learning, laughter, and memorable experiences. We would like to say a huge thank you to our helpers (especially Mrs Banks and Mrs Hemus) and the school staff for making the trip possible. Days like this enrich our classroom learning and create memories the children will treasure.
