“Shapes Everywhere!” – A Week of Creative Discovery

Last week, our young learners embarked on an exciting journey into the world of shapes!
The adventure began with a shape hunt around the school, where children eagerly searched for shapes in their everyday surroundings. They spotted circles on clocks, rectangles on doors, and even triangles in roof structures. This hands-on activity sparked curiosity and encouraged them to see how shapes are part of the world around us.
Back in the classroom, the exploration continued with a variety of shape-inspired creative projects. Children designed vibrant firework pictures using different shapes, combining triangles, circles, and squares to create dazzling displays. They also experimented with constructing rockets, fireworks, and sparklers from shapes, learning how simple forms can come together to make exciting objects.
To add a sensory element, the children used playdough to model firework shapes, reinforcing their understanding through tactile play. These activities not only developed their ability to recognise and name shapes but also encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and fine motor skills.
Mrs. Armstrong, shared:
“It was wonderful to see the children so engaged. They weren’t just learning about shapes; they were using them to create amazing things!”
The week was filled with enthusiasm and imagination as children discovered that shapes are everywhere and can be used to make something spectacular. We are proud of their curiosity and creativity and look forward to more adventures in learning!
