Big Stories in a Little Library – Sharing the Joy of Reading

We’re excited to unveil our brand-new Little Library; a community treasure where stories are shared, swapped, and celebrated by readers of all ages!

We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of our brand-new Little Library - a charming, book-filled nook now open to both the school community and the public. Nestled just inside our school gates, this mini marvel is more than just a box of books; it’s a celebration of stories, sharing, and the simple joy of reading. A huge thank you to Dave from New Cottages ( a local resident)  for making the mini library and supporting our school and local community.

The concept is delightfully simple: Take a book, donate a book. Whether you’re after a gripping thriller, a gentle bedtime tale, or a laugh-out-loud picture book, there’s something for everyone; children and adults alike. It’s a place where dog-eared favourites find new homes and fresh reads await curious minds.

Last week, our youngest pupils took the lead in launching the library by donating some beloved books. With tiny hands and big hearts, they placed their stories on the shelves, ready to be enjoyed by others. Their enthusiasm was infectious; one child even asked if the library accepted dinosaur encyclopaedias (we said yes, of course).

And the excitement doesn’t stop there! Keep your eyes peeled for a larger library coming soon, generously funded by our local parish council and PTA. It promises even more space for stories, more room for readers, and perhaps even a few surprises tucked between the pages.

This initiative supports our school’s commitment to fostering a love of reading, building community connections, and encouraging children to see books not just as objects, but as gifts to be shared. It’s also a gentle nudge to grown-ups: if you’ve got a book gathering dust at home, why not let it inspire someone else?

So, who will be next to donate a book or discover a new favourite? The shelves are ready, the stories are waiting, and the Little Library is open for business – no library card required, just a love of reading and a generous spirit.

Happy reading, everyone and remember, the best stories are the ones we share.
